Celiac Symptoms
Celiac symptoms vary widely and can be attributable to other medical, so it is vital to seek a proper diagnosis to confirmed that your celiac symptoms before starting a gluten free diet. An adult with celiac may be chronically tired (often due to anemia resulting from poor iron and folic acid absorption.
Other celiac symptoms include abdominal discomfort and mouth ulcers and often with a feeling of fullness or bloating. Sufferers can be very ill indeed with vomiting, diarrhoea and severe weight. There may also be a long history of stomach upset, or the onset may be very sudden.
The symptoms of celiac disease may become apparent at any age. In a baby for instance, the first sign of celiac problem is usually about three months, when the child is being weaned. If a child who previously enjoyed his or her feeds become miserable at mealtime and refuses to foods and stop gaining weight, seek medical advise immediately.
If a baby with celiac symptoms is not treated immediately he/she will loose weight, become listless and irritable and develop a swollen pot belly. The stools will be unusually pale, with offensive ordour, and then there may be more serious symptoms such as diarrhoea and vomiting. If the celiac symptoms persist and go untreated the child will eventually become very ill
